9.12.11: hiking, no horseback riding part 1...

actually, lemme begin by back tracking to the night before.  =) rachel, miah and i had been hangin' out, drankin', chitchattin' and eating shanghai lumpia at rachel's house in south ogden, like 35 minutes from my place in slc.  we were supposed to eat hotdogs but according to rachel, it was too chilly outside to grill.  it felt fine to me.  ;-)  but i hadn't eaten lumpia since i was back in seattle so i was fine with it.  hehehe.  anyways, the night was going great, as always. but as always (well not always, but a good amount of the time.  haha.), the night ended up going sour.  why?  cuz miah and rachel got into one of their lil bickering matches.  they have like this love/hate thing going on, it's funny.  i love it!  about what that night?  i don't even remember, they bicker so much.  lol.  maybe it was me eggin' her on to call in sick.  i dunno.  she had a migrane and was very irritable and moody.  something her off and she ended up storming off to her room, thank goodness, not slamming the door this time.  so, i knew it wasn't that serious.  ;-)  once again, miah went to apologize.  who knows whose fault it even was. hehehe.  it musta worked cuz they both came down, and rachel apologized to me.  for what reason, i don't know.  probably cuz she felt bad for stormin' off.  it was all good though, i was chillin'.  and it wasn't a big deal to me.  if you know me, i'll just laugh about it unless it's really something serious. well, it wasn't a very nice apology though cuz she ended up head buntin me in the process.  sheesh! still love that girl though.  lol.  i GUESS it was an accident...

anyways, miah and i crashed there that night.  and by time we went to sleep, it was already 1am or so.  keep in mind, rachel works during the weekdays at 630am.  hella early!!!  and we were on a good one that night.  crazy girl!  i ended up falling asleep in the living room, watching tv.  criminal minds, to be exact.  sometime during the night, miah turned the tv off, which i didn't even realize until i woke up in the middle of the night, like at 3am.  i did hear him when he got up to get water, which was around 6am.  we chatted for a lil bit then ended up falling back asleep.  i woke up again when i heard the boys getting ready for school, which i believe was around 7am or so.  i was pretty much in and out of sleep by then.  i hate being a light sleeper!  no bueno! cuz i heard rachel come down for some water or something.  i heard the boys come down when they were all dressed.  i heard them in the kitchen, sneaking m&ms from the big yellow bag.  [side note:  rachel said the boys don't like any candy with peanuts in them so bought a whole bag of it from costco.  but they were all up in it that morning.  haha.]  it's funny cuz they were trying to be hella sneaky and quiet.  taking the m&ms out of the bag.  slowly.  one by one.  and each time they'd take one out and put it in their hand, it would hit the other ones, making a tapping noise.  not very slick there, guys!  i asked them what they were doing and they just looked at me like deer caught in headlights.  lol.  when it was finally time for them to head out to the bus stop, justin could find his shoes.  jalen had already gone out the door.  all i could hear was justin rustling in the closet, whining.  goodness, that boy whines a lot.  he reminds me of my nephew, tony.  all the time!  smh.  justin ended up opening the front door and yelling out to jalen, "i can't find my shoes!"  so jalen came back in the house, didn't even help and said, "hurry up!  we're gonna miss the bus!"  so justin went into the garage, rustled some more and finally found some shoes he could wear.  but then, he ended up having more issues and couldn't get them on.  so, i said, "loosen the laces."  of course, he didn't listen to me and kept forcing them on.  after a few minutes, he finally got them on, ran out and slammed the door.  hella loud.  thanks! he musta been looking for the shoes he wore at causey when we went camping but couldn't find them.  they're laceless, that's why.  hahaha.  man, i wish i had a video of them that morning cuz it was hilarious...

not too long later, i heard rachel come down the stairs.  she was all dressed and ready to go to work.  by then it was about 8am or so.  hella late!  once again, i encouraged her to, "call in sick, call in sick!"  lol.  mainly cuz she was complaining about having a migraine and her head hurting. "you probably have a hangover," i said.  i even told her to take a shot cuz it usually helps with headache hangovers but she wouldn't do it.  hehe.  "well, i'm not gonna call in sick if we're not gonna do anything!"  both miah and i go, "okay, let's do something then."  she goes, "well, ya'll are still laying there."  attitude!!!  and we're like, "we'll get up! and that's when we decided to go hiking.  and rachel called in sick.  bad influence!!!  =P

at first, we couldn't decide where we wanted to go hiking. waterfall canyon?  adam's canyon?  snowbasin?  i'd only been to adam's canyon during my vacay here back in march.  apparently, there's a beautiful waterfall at the top but i didn't get to see it, sadly cuz of the snow.  i hadn't been to the other places but i was down for whatevs, as always.  we finally decided on snowbasin.

we didn't even get out of the house until around 9am or so. we decided to eat breakfast first at einstein bagel to try to get rid of our "non-hangovers".  and of course, for energy!  hehe.  sorta helped. rachel ended up getting a voucher for a free breakfast meal cuz she complained [such a complainer! ;-)] about the chewy, stringy, brown asparagus in her breakfast sandwich.  no bueno!  but it was a really good sandwich besides the asparagus, i must say.  mainly cuz it had mushrooms in it.  =)  we headed to the recreation outlet in ogden after so i could pick up this backpacking backpack, which was actually my only plan for the day until rachel called in.  haha.  rachel had bought the same backpack the week before and she wanted us to be twins like her and tosh.a and their snowboarding backpacks.  ;-)  it's a pretty tight backpack, if i might say so myself.  and it was only $50.  deals!!! afterwards, we went to miah's house since it was just down the street.  we needed to grab a couple more camel pak type backpacks to take hiking. you know, gotta stay hydrated!  =)  then, we were on our way to snowbasin...
