9.14.12: elephant rock. NOT.

it was a gorgeous day. and the first Friday I've had off in a while. and I've been wanting to go on more hikes. my friend Lisa always talks about the elephant rock hike so I thought, hey, why not?

the original plan was to go hiking with Mattie but she bailed, lame! ;-) jk. she's a busy lady... I asked Cherie to go too. it took us a while to get out here (slept in, ate a late breakfast, picked up her dog in the bfe, had to get the right gear) but we made it. :-) I think we started the hike at about 4pm. haha...

we started at the Meuller park trail head in Bountiful

view towards the great salt lake and Bountiful

that white/grey speck in the middle is our destination

fall colors starting to come out. the one and only reason I love fall. oh wait, I lied. it's one season closer to winter :-)

disabled lady's backpack sling. she's getting old. ;-)

along our hike, we saw hella mountain bikers. most I've seen on any trail. must be cuz this is an easy hike and there really aren't any gradual ascents. anyways, so we were coming up to this bend in the trail and I was following Cherie. she was in her own lil world, jammin' to some tunes, kinda dancing, not paying attention. all of a sudden, this biker comes around the bend and startles the ish out of her. she does like this stutter/shuffle step and from behind, it's the most hilarious sight. the look on her face musta been priceless cuz the biker said, "sorry." haha. we were crackin' up for a while. you just had to be there...

coming up to an opening with a gorgeous view, Cherie goes, "this is a perfect spot to take a picture." but she didn't even take a picture. huh? haha.

we got to this pretty tight spot and if you weren't really paying attention (Cherie, once again), you'd probably run into some tree leaves. well, that happened. face all up in the leaves. I go, "watch out." and just as I'm bout to say it, Cherie goes, "can't mess up the money maker." get outta my head, lady! hilarious and crackin' up once again.

our destination, the elephant rock that doesn't even look like an elephant. wha da hare? is it cuz it's just a huge rock??? boo!

we chilled for a lil and had a snack. well, several snacks. hehe. there was a lil trail towards the rock, kinda steep. woulda been a good idea to have a first aid kit, if needed, which we didn't. therefore, no attempts down that path. haha.

the view was totally worth the hike. well, for me. gorgeous! :-)

does that look like an elephant to you?

it took us about 3 hours roundtrip. probably coulda done better time but we had some technically difficulties along the way and back. haha...

next attempt, well second attempt: grandeur peak!

update 9.20.12: forgot I tracked the hike. :-) didn't start at the beginning cuz I forgot I had this app. and it may have ended early cuz my phone died. lol.

9.12.12: not quite the puyallup...

went to the Utah state fair for the first time with the roomies. :-)

watched the high divers. like super high. haha. it was cray cray. the water was only 10 feet deep supposedly...

ate lotsa food.

thought about eating this. haha. foot long hot dog in a bun...

1. roasted corn while we watched some band play.

2. Bavarian cream pie funnel cake and caught the absolute end of a cirque show, like it ended right as we sat down. haha...

3. moochie's moo cheese rings, 4. meatball sandwich and 5. fried ravioli at the food court...

6. cream cheese scone with honey as we were leaving. no photo, sad! phone died.

all this in a 2 hour ish time frame. hehe. oh, and 7. a caramel apple with nuts to go. :-)

checked out a store full of local farmers. they had some interesting stuff. lotsa honey... checked out some hot tubs and thought about purchasing one. ha! walked through the craft building. one vendor had Justin Bieber's Girlfriend perfume. lol...

played with some aminals.

this little guy was super happy when I was taking his pix. :-) his tail was hella wagging and he kept looking at the cam and even showed some teef...

these guys were cracking us up. the black goat kept getting up on his hind legs and dropping to head butt the white goat and the white goat bit the black goat's ear. lol...

checked out this ride that cost $8. well I think it's considered a ride. kids enclosed in huge clear balls rolling around or floating on water. no photo either, lame! it was quite interesting. even got splashed. haha.

fun times. and very FULL filling. :-)
